| Description:

aromatic tree or thicket-forming shrub. The fruit is an elliptical
shiny, bluish-black berry that is devoured by birds. The leaf
color ranges from green to yellow in the summer, to deep orange,
scarlet and then purple in the fall. Sassafras grows in moist,
particularly sandy soils in the sun, however light shade is preferred. |
